31th October: A Tea Exhibition and IBS Haunted House

We went on a class trip with all the exchange student who wanted to participate to see all sorts of tea. For example, that one picture which looks as if there are just plates but they are actually compressed tea leaves!

In the evening I went with NinaRojan and two Chinese friends. At that time we didn’t really know that it was a haunted house which you had to walk through in small groups. Honestly, it wasn’t really scary, people were dressed up as doctors, vampires, zombies and, of course, it was quite dark. Who would have thought that these kind of things would scare Nina so much? She’s been holding me for the whole trip through that haunted house and almost killed me when one of those doctors walked our way and she just kept pulling my scarf <_< So I had to push her away and started talking with that doctor, who’s someone I know, and apparently I ignored her yelling my name. Sorry about that…
(BTW: IBS stands for International Business School or something like that which means that that haunted house was planned by exchange students)

17th October: Some Competition Between the Institutes

Not quite sure what it was about but there were so many people dressed up as famous characters 😀 and they all wanted you to vote for them. So we voted for the institute which took polaroid photos of us. I don’t even remember which one it was…. and of course the Germans voted for the German institute because apparently you can vote more than just once.

17th October: The day we went to a Maid Café

We were really excited when we made the decision to go to a Maid Café and it took us quite a while to get there but when we arrived, there were no other customers and there was this awkward silence…
Well, it was still quite fascinating to see a Maid Cafè for the first time but I guess I had high expectations because I thought that it would be a lot more… cute? Unfortunately, it looked quite ‘normal’ and it wasn’t bustling with maids.
When our maid came to take our order we were so shocked that she was suddenly kneeling and we had to literally look down on her.

Oh, and I always thought that maids are supposed to be incredibly outgoing and kind of hyperactive but she was just way too shy. Two of the guys (Hibiki and Ikeda, both Japanese) ordered some special rice omelet and the maid had to perform something but because she was so shy we had to do it with her, which was actually quite fun but so embarrassing haha We had to do these cat paw moves with her and then make a heart at the and xD” Now thinking back, I’m wondering whether it was all just an act? xD

This wall shows the maid working in this café.

7th October: Nina's birthday and other stuff

Nina's classmates, Jeonghyun, Lukas, and I celebrated Nina's birthday by going to a rather special noodle restaurant. It's difficult to explain but you just have a big wok in the middle of the table and just eat the noodles from there.

Other stuff:
All you can eat yogurt buffet with Jeonghyun. It’s exactly that. You pay a price and can eat as much yogurt as you want xD They of course have different kinds of yogurt but I’ve never heard of an “all you can eat yogurt” shop before.

Part of the school cafeteria (underground): They sell all kinds of dishes from different Chinese provinces!

People dancing in public because they can (and that happens EVERY night)

30th September: Beijing University 北大 + 2nd October: Anime convention

In the afternoon everyone from class F-H went to the Peking University 北大 to watch the filming of a talk show about Chinese culture and how the Confucius Institute helped spreading it.
It was quite interesting but I was so incredibly tired that I could nearly kept my eyes opened. Oh, but I was wide awake after one of the spotlights almost crashed into the audience… I have no idea how that could happen but they just carried on after fixing the spotlight and we had to sit through the whole show (which lasted for 3 hours….)
Alex, Minori, I, and Inhyeong
The Anime Convention

I went there with NinaRichardLukas and Hibiki and, to be honest, it was not as good as I expected it to be. It was basically just a lot of people cosplaying and lots of booths selling merchandise but there was nothing else D: I guess I thuoght that there would be some sort of programm? At least I finally bought the pocket watch from Fullmetal Alchemist ❤ and something similar to a pillow.
It burst opened the other day but Lukas fixed it for me. That’s why you can see the seam on its left side.

A blurry photo of Sesshomaru and a girl I don’t know

Lukas and Nina (you might want to pay attention to this little thing on her head)

The Minion craze in China is real!
